Press Trust of India Chandigarh
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today asked the Punjab government to review its "faulty" mining policy to curb the activities of sand mafia in the state.

Bhagwant Mann, who heads the party's Punjab unit, in a statement said that AAP will not allow mafia to loot the residents of state by grabbing the natural resources and forcing people to buy sand at higher prices.

The need of the hour is to draft a proper policy regarding auction of sand mines so that the back of the mafia, which is active, can be broken and common people do not face any problem purchasing sand, the MP from Sangrur said.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Dinesh Chaddha demanded that the government must prepare a black list of people who are running illegal mining and gunda tax trade in the state.

He demanded that such people must be stopped from taking part in future auctions.
