AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC), a group of over 70 social and political organisations, today expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would announce the setting up of the premier health institute in Jammu during his visit to the city on July 17.
"We are hopeful that the Prime Minister would appreciate the sentiments of the people of Jammu and would announce the setting up of AIIMS here during his upcoming visit to the region on July 17," ACC chairman Abhinav Sharma said here today.
He said that the people of Jammu have been facing a lot of problems owing to the absence of healthcare facilities in the region.

The region does not have a single modern and fully equipped medical college and hospital, he said, adding that people of Jammu have been facing discrimination at the hands of Kashmir-based leadership since 1947.
Sharma said that the people of Jammu voted for BJP with the hope that the party would end the discrimination with the region, however that did not happen.
The BJP did not fulfill the promises it made to the people of Jammu prior to the elections and the people of Jammu continue to face discrimination, Sharma said.
He said that the AIIMS coordination committee is an amalgam of more than 70 social, political, religious and business originations.
