Demanding a high court Bench in western Uttar Pradesh, advocates of Gautam Buddha Nagar district courts today marched to the DM office and gave a memorandum in this regard.

"Today, we have given a memorandum addressed to the President of India. We handed over the memorandum to the SDM at the DM office," Sardar Singh Bansal, Secretary of Bar Association, said.

The state government alone can not create a separate Bench of high court. Moreover, the Uttar Pradesh government is reluctant," Bansal said.

"Several states in India has more than three high court benches. Additional high court Bench will provide easy access to litigants. The high court is more than 700 kilometre away from several districts of western Uttar Pradesh," he said, adding, "due to the long distance, litigants prefer not to challenge orders though they are not satisfied with it."

"There is a need to set up a Bench in western Uttar Pradesh and one in Bundelkhand. Poor people of Bundelkhand are suffering as they do not have money to go to the high court," he added.

Besides, Gautam Budh Nagar, advocates in other districts of western Uttar Pradesh also gave memorandums to their respective DM offices.
