Warning strict action, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today directed sugar mill owners in Saharapur, Meerut and Moradabad divisions to begin the crushing season between November 20 and 25.
The chief minister also directed that sugar mills in other divisions of the state start crushing by November 30 and warned of strict action for any further delay.
Reviewing the sugarcane crushing season 2013-2014 in a meeting which was attended by senior officials, including that of the cane department, the chief minister asked sugarcane commissioner to inform all sugar mill managers about these dates and immediately direct them to follow the instructions.
The Chief Minister's directive comes in the wake of delay in sugarcane crushing season this year.
