Newly-elected MLAs of the Samajwadi Party would meet at the party office here on March 16 where discussions on their new legislative party leader and future course of action are expected.

"SP national president Akhilesh Yadav would be meeting the newly elected SP legislators at the party office on March 16. Discussions on who could possibly be the new leader of the SP legislative party may take place. Apart from this deliberation on the future role of the party on the floor of House may also happen," SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary told reporters here.

Chaudhary said that as far as deliberations on the possible causes of defeat in UP assembly polls is concerned, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav may convene a separate meeting next week with the party candidates who lost the recently-concluded UP assembly election.

In the recently-held UP assembly elections, Samajwadi Party and Congress contested together. The Samajwadi Party's seats tally came down to 47 from 224 in 2012, while Congress managed to bag only seven seats down from 28 seats held by them in 2012.
