Anchor Group Director seeks pre-arrest bail in cheating case

Press Trust of India Mumbai

The case had been registered in September last year against Shah and 11 others after a complaint was lodged by Indur Chaudhary, owner of Art Advertising and Marketing Pvt Ltd and father of Bollywood actor Ashish Chaudhary.

Chaudhary, in his complaint, alleged that some of his former employees diverted funds and poached some of his clients to their new advertisement firm.

According to the complaint, the former employees allegedly connived with directors of Anchor Group to float an advertising and marketing joint venture, Red C Advertising.

Chaudhary said former employees had signed an MOU to compensate him for the losses incurred because of them. But subsequently, they refused to honour the commitment.

Chaudhary alleged he was cheated to the tune of Rs 26 crore by the accused.

In his anticipatory bail application, Shah said the allegations levelled against him were baseless and he was not involved in the case.

Hearing on the application was adjourned till September 28.
