Argentine President Cristina Fernandez is finally back at work, six weeks after surgery to drain a hematoma on her brain.
She was keeping a light agenda today, meeting with a few key aides on her first day officially back on the job. And she's staying at the presidential residence on the outskirts of the capital rather than coming to formal Casa Rosada in downtown Buenos Aires.
Doctors are urging her to take things easy for a time and to avoid plane or helicopter flights.
Officials say that during her recuperation, she was even told to avoid watching the news.
Backers have flooded local social media sites with congratulations and messages of support. And pollsters say her favorability ratings have risen following the Oct. 8 operation.
