A security guard was killed and his brother seriously injured by unidentified armed assailants at a local centre of a sect here, police said today.
Karaj Singh was brutally stabbed to death and his middle-aged brother Bagicha Singh, both working as security guard at a local centre of Nirankari sect, was injured in the attack yesterday.

The assailants first tried to gain forceful entry into the premises but when opposed they came in by scaling the walls from backside, police said.
After being stabbed Karaj Singh fell on the ground while Bagicha raised alarm to attract people to their rescue.
The accused had till then fled the spot, he said.
The Police Commissioner said Karaj Singh sustained two stabs on his neck and throat besides those at chest, waist, arms, and legs.
Bagicha received injuries in arms, legs and stomach and is undergoing treatment at a hospital here, he said adding his situation is improving.
Aulakh said police have been deployed in and around the sect premise even as the situation remains tense.
The sect also has deputed volunteers, especially their ex-servicemen, to guard the premises.
A case had been registered and investigations are on, the Commissioner said.
Notably, Jathedar Akal Takhat (supreme temporal seat of the Sikhs), Sadhu Singh Bhora in 1978 had announced boycott of the Nirankari sect due to certain ideological differences. The boycott continues till date.
