Notwithstanding the bitterness in ties, Armies of India and Pakistan today exchanged sweets on the occasion of Eid-ul Zuha at several places on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion of the holy festival, the Army representatives of India and Pakistan exchanged sweets at Poonch-Rawalakot Crossing Point and Tattapani-Mendhar Crossing Point in Krishna Ghati Sector of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.

He said the exchange of sweets was an appreciated gesture from both the countries and is a regular event on the occasions of Diwali and Eid.

This aforesaid event is a testimony of goodwill and will certainly strengthen the efforts towards maintaining peace and tranquility along Line of Control, he said.

The goodwill gesture by the two armies comes despite the bitterness in bilateral relations. The LoC was recently witness to ceasefire violations by Pakistani Army in the Poonch sector on the LoC.
