Army today treated as many as 629 people in a medical camp in border district of Poonch area.
The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force, conducted a medical camp for the local population hailing from village Mandi and its surrounding areas in Poonch district as part of the ongoing "Operation Sadbhavana", a Defence spokesperson said.
In the camp, which was held at Mandi tehsil of the district, 629 people were treated by a team of three doctors from the Army and two civil doctors including a Gynecologist, he said adding free medicines were provided in the camp.

The camp was conducted in association with Dr Shamin Bhatti, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Mandi, to provide health-care facilities to people residing in remote and inaccessible areas.
The camp benefited villagers, who are poor and unable to go for treatment due to lack of good medical facilities in the vicinity, he said.
The doctors also made the local population aware of the common ailments prevalent in the present weather conditions, the spokesman added.
