A 23-year-old Army jawan, who died

in Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir last week, was cremated with full military honours at his native Akhatwade village in the north Maharashtra district.

The mortal remains of Sandeep Hyalij were consigned to flames in the village yesterday.

Hyalij's body was flown to Mumbai on Sunday before it was brought to his native place by road, where Army officers paid their tribute to the soldier.

Besides villagers, local politicians and government officials were also present on the occasion.
