Arunachal Pradesh police has made an action plan to check insurgency in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts through various initiatives, including setting up 11 new police stations and upgrading the existing nine.
Besides, 1769 posts have been filled up in the police department for the three insurgency-affected districts, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Tussar Taba told reporters here today.
To strengthen the police in these districts in terms of communication, vehicles, weapons and security equipments, 20 HF sets, 100 2W VHF sets, 217 VHF hand held sets were procured including 50 vehicles of various categories.

The department also procured 313 5.56 INSAS rifles, 158 9mm pistols, 40 2'mortars, 33 7.62 LMgs and over two lakh AK-47 ammunitions during 2014, the AIGP said adding, 28 night vision devices, 20 video cameras, 23 digital cameras and other gadgets were procured for the districts during the year.
He said under citizen safety initiatives, anti-extortion cell was created in the police headquarters, besides introduction of beat system, tenant and servant verifications and five new check gates with surveillance system was set up in vulnerable places of the state capital.
