Five children with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) from Assam today left for Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bengaluru, for treatment.
At a function held in this regard, Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Nazrul Islam said the state government has been sending CHD patients outside Assam for free treatment since 2010.
The minister also denied reports in a section of the media that the scheme has been discontinued and informed that the state government has earmarked Rs six crore for the purpose in the current budget.
The five children sent to Bengaluru this time are Deepjyoti Kurmi, Tuhin Saikia, Dhanashree Basumatary, Saharul Islam and Stuti Devi.
