Assam Rifles seizes drugs worth Rs 93 lakhs

The Assam Rifles (AR) seized drugs worth Rs 93 lakh and apprehended a drugs peddler from Tengnoupal district, AR sources said today.

The illegal drugs were found concealed in a van, during regular checking at Khudengthabi check post along the Imphal-Moreh highway at the hill district of Tengnoupal yesterday, an Assam Rifles release said.

The apprehended peddler has been identified as 45-year-old Paokhongam Haokip hailing from the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh.

He has been handed over to Moreh police station for taking up further actions, the release added.
