Assistant engineer arrested while accepting a bribe

An assistant engineer (In-Charge) working in the Panchayat Raj department in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while he allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 25,000, it was officially announced here today.

He was caught red-handed by ACB officials yesterday, when he demanded and accepted a Rs 25,000 bribe from a complainant for an official favour, an ACB release stated.

The accused officer has been arrested after the bribe amount was seized. Further investigations are on, the release said.
