: An assistant public prosecutor at a court near here has been arrested for allegedly taking Rs 8,000 as bribe, sleuths of the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) said Monday

Shakeel Ahmed Ansari allegedly demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant not to implicate his mother again in a criminal case, an ACB press release said here.

Noticing the arrival of ACB officials at his office-cum-residence here, Ansari tore up the currency notes, threw them into the toilet and flushed them out, with a view to destroying the evidence, the release said.

However, the torn notes were recovered from the drain and Ansari was arrested, it added.
