Banana growers protest demanding compensation

About 50 farmers growing bananas today conducted a protest demanding compenstion to the farmers who lot their cutivation following heavy winds.

The protesters, led by S R Parthiban, MLA, demanded the governament to give compensation to them as banana trees in thousands of acres were destroyed in Kolathur, Bhumanur, Bhuthapadi, Govindapadi and Cauveripuram due to heavy winds.

The protesters demanded a compensation of Rs 200 per cluster from the governmet.
