Bangladeshi driver held for smuggling Rs 9-lakh silver

A Bangladeshi national was today held by BSF for allegedly smuggling silver worth over Rs 9 lakh along the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal.

The incident occurred at 9.30 am at Mohadipur Integrated Check Post (ICP) area in Malda district of the state when Border Security Force troops conducted the search of a Bangaldesh registered truck which had brought clothing items into India and was returning.

"On search, 27kg silver granules with an estimated value of Rs 9,73,350 was recovered from under a seat. The driver of the truck was apprehended and handed over to local police," a senior BSF officer said.
