Barley prices firmed up by Rs 21.50 to Rs 1,520.50 per quintal in futures trade today as traders expanded positions enthused by firm physical markets on fall in supplies from growing regions against spurt in demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, barley delivery for December contract showed a sharp rise of Rs 21.50 or 1.43 percent to Rs 1,520.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 90 lots.
Traders said the rise in barley prices in futures trade was mostly attributed to pause in supplies from growing regions against spurt in demand from beer makers.
