Press Trust of India New Delhi
Barley prices fell by Rs 11.50 to Rs 1,147 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators offloaded holdings amid a weak trend at spot markets on subdued demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley prices for delivery in May declined by Rs 11.50, or 0.99 per cent, to Rs 1,147 per quintal, with an open interest of 23,130 lots.

On similar lines, April contracts lost Rs 10.50, or 0.90 per cent, to Rs 1,150 per quintal, in an open interest of 13,180 lots.

Marketmen said falling prices at physical markets due to subdued demand from consuming industries against ample supplies mainly impacted barley prices at futures trade.
