Barman appointed chief of national police academy

Senior police officer D R Doley Barman was today appointed as Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad.

The academy is a premier training institute for police officers.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the appointment of Barman, a 1986 batch IPS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, to the post for two years, an order issued by Personnel Ministry said.

She has been appointed in place of Aruna M Bahuguna, who superannuated today.

The appointment has been done by temporarily downgrading the post to the level of Additional Director General, it said.

The post is usually held by a DG-level officer.
 

Barman is at present Director, North Eastern Police Academy in Meghalaya.
