BDO removed from duty after he address poll campaign

Najrul Islam, who is Block Development Officer of Amri Development Block in Karbi Anglong districts, addressed a campaign meeting held by Congress at Rupahihat in Nagaon district yesterday.
"The state election commission has removed Islam from poll-related duties. The commission has also sought a report from Nagaon Deputy Commissioner in the matter," Biren Dutta, State Election Commissioner, said.
Islam, who is brother-in-law of Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Rockybul Hussain, has been found to address the meeting in the video. The speech was captured by video cameras and broadcast in local channels.
Meanwhile, opposition Asom Gana Parishad leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said they have approached State Election Commission for action against the BDO.
"It is unfortunate that such a senior government official indulged in this kind of activity," he told reporters in Nagaon.
