Belgium shooter's purpose was to attack police: senior officer

A gunman who killed two policewomen and seriously injured a third officer in the Belgian city of Liege today "clearly" targeted the police, the head of the local force said.

"It is clear that the assassin's objective was to attack the police," said Christian Beaupere, adding that one of the four police officers wounded in the attack had been seriously injured in the leg.
