Three officials of the Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh were arrested Friday in connection with the blast at the plant which had claimed 14 lives last month.
An explosion had occurred in a gas pipeline at the plant of the state-owned Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in Durg districts Bhilai town, 30 km from Raipur, on on October 8.
Four officials of the energy management department had been booked for allegedly overlooking safety standards and not assessing possible hazards.
Police on Friday arrested then general manager (coke oven) GVS Subramaniam, deputy general manager (energy) Naveen Kumar and manager (safety and fire department) P Pandya Raja, said Durg Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Shukla.
All three were immediately released on bail as the offences are bailable, he said.
