A rogue biker was arrested today for allegedly assaulting a traffic constable when he was stopped for violating rules in the northern part of the city this morning.
Mohammed Jisan Shamim was arrested for allegedly hitting constable Debasish Basu of Sealdah Traffic guard when the bike he was riding was intercepted at MG Road-Amherst Street at around 11.30 AM today, a senior police officer of Kolkata Police said.
"Basu stopped the biker for violating traffic rules following which there was an altercation. Then suddenly Shamim attacked the cop and tried to flee but locals caught him," the officer said.
Shamim, a resident of Narkeldanga area, was later arrested and his motorcycle was seized, he added.
