The BJP MLA from Katol in Vidarbha, Ashish Deshmukh, today expressed disappointment at the Maharashtra government's reply to his letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the issue of a separate Vidarbha state.

The reply, by the government's General Administration Department, stated that Deshmukh's demands had been forwarded to the concerned departments.

Deshmukh had written the letter on December 6 last year asking Fadnavis to pursue efforts to bring about statehood for Vidarbha.

Accusing the government and Fadnavis of ignoring demands for statehood, Deshmukh said the government's reply was an insult to the people of Vidarbha.
