Around 150 BJP workers were today arrested when they attempted to picket the Union Territory Assembly demanding the resignation of Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao over the death of three patients due to power failure while undergoing dialysis at a government hospital.

The agitators led by President of the local unit of the BJP V Saminathan raised slogans alleging that there was "serious medical negligence" which led to the death of the patients on March 9 when they were undergoing dialysis at the hosptial.

The government should initiate immediate action against all those responsible for the negligence, they said.

When they tried to enter the Assembly premises, police arrested them. All those arrested were later released, police said.
