Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said BJP will come to power in the civic elections in Mumbai on its own.
During an interaction with residents of the cities in the state where elections are to be held later this month, Fadnavis said he was confident that BJP will come to power on its own in Mumbai and will not need a post-poll alliance with Sena.
Shiv Sena and BJP, ruling alliance partners, could not work out a tie-up for Mumbai elections this time.
Fadnavis however claimed that seat-sharing was not at the nub of the problem. BJP's demand of 'transparency' in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation led to the rupture, he said.
BJP would not compromise on its manifesto, to be released tomorrow, he said.
On roads in Mumbai, the CM said efforts to build sustainable and good quality roads were on. The state government was working on conducting a scientific study of proposed road works, looking into traffic load, life span, etc., he added.

The interaction was a part of BJP's campaign to
finalise its manifesto with inputs from citizens. The party received about 7 lakh suggestions on various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and phone calls.
Fadnavis held the discussion with 20 shortlisted citizens on improving governance in 10 cities going to polls this month which also includes the Mumbai civic body.
Two citizens were shortlisted from each of the cities; while the discussion was anchored by actress Pallavi Joshi. The discussion was streamed live with Fadnavis taking suggestions and questions from online audience.
During the discussion, Fadnavis gave indications about the party's manifesto like enabling legal provision to make toilets for women mandatory in cities.
He also said that the party was looking at building sustainable and good quality roads with construction being carried out only after a scrutiny of various factors from existing traffic, life span that will ensure that public money is not drained.
The manifesto is expected to specify protocol for such construction and as announced earlier no street tax will be charged until the roads are potholes free, he said.
