Black pepper, copra recover in listless trade

Black pepper and Copra prices recovered in an otherwise listless spices market here today following fresh demand from stockists and retailers.

While Ginger unbleached held stable in the absence of any large-scale buying activity.

Black pepper rd gained by Rs 9/30 per kg to Rs 430/530 from its Saturday's close Rs 421/500.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai and copra edible prices shot-up by Rs 400 per quintal to Rs 18,000, while copra edible rose by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 16,000 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 17,600 and Rs 15,700, respectively.

Copra office Alappuzha rose by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 14,800 from Rs 14,500.
 

Copra office Kozhikode also gained by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 14,600 as compared to Rs 14,300 previously.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 430/530 (421/500), ginger unbleached (per kg) 125 (125), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 14,800 (14,500), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 14,600 (14,300), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 18,000 (17,600), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 16,000 (15,700).
