Black pepper recovers in listless trade

Black pepper prices recovered mildly in listless trading at spices market here today on renewed demand from stockists and traders.

While, copra office alapuzha and copra office kozhikode remained closed today on account of "Onam" festival.

Elsewhere, ginger, copra Rajapur mumbai and copra edible mumbai ruled stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

Black pepper rose by Rs 5/5 per kg to Rs 665/740 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 660/735.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs) with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 665/740 (660/735), ginger bleached (per kg) 240 (240), ginger unbleached (per kg) 260 (260), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) closed (8,200), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) closed (8,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,300 (16,300), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 10,000 (10,000).
