Boy drowns in water-filled ditch at Metro construction site

A 13-year-old boy drowned after falling into a water-filled ditch at a Metro rail construction site in Karkardooma when he had gone to play with his friends, police said.

The incident took place here this evening when the deceased, identified as Kartik, was playing with around five others at a ground close to the site where the Karkardooma station of Metro Phase-3 is being constructed.

"The children drifted toward the ditch which was a few feet deep and was full of water. Two kids had fallen into it.. One of them was saved by locals while Kartik could not be saved...," said a police officer.
 

The body has been sent for postmortem and police investigations are on.
