Britney Spears emotional as '... Baby one more time' turns 20

Britney Spears arrived on the pop music scene two decades ago with her breakout hit "... Baby one more time" and the singer is all the more grateful for the love.

The 36-year-old singer, who debuted with the chartbuster in 1998 and went on to become a teen pop idol, took to Twitter Tuesday to thank fans.

"It's hard to put into words what today means to me 20 years ago, the world heard my music for the very first time! So much has happened since then but what I really want to say is thank you to my amazing fans who have been there for me since day 1...

 

"Your support over the years has meant the absolute world to me! Love you all!" Spears said.

She also shared the YouTube link to the song.

"... Baby one more time" debuted at No 1 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified two-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America a month after its after.

The album, of the same name, topped the charts in 15 countries and sold over 10 million copies in a year. It became the biggest selling album ever by a teenage artiste.

Spears is credited for reviving teen pop during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
