Cancer patient dies after fall from hospital top floor

A cancer patient died today after falling from the sixth floor of a super-speciality private hospital in Salt Lake, the satellite township near Kolkata.

Quoting eyewitness accounts a senior officer of Bidhan Nagar City Police in North 24 Parganas district said, Durgaprasad Chatterjee (75) jumped from the window and died after falling on the road.

Chatterjee, a resident of Jadavpur area of Kolkata, had been suffering from the disease for long, the officer said adding his son-in-law is a doctor in the same Salt Lake unit of the medical facility.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and a probe ordered.
