A woman and her daughter were killed and four others injured when a car veered off the road and fell into a gorge at Lehar near Banikhet on Chamba-Pathankot highway, about 30-km from here this evening.
The accident happened around 4.30PM when the car swerved and rolled down the hillside, killing 57-year-old Foam Dei and her 34-year-old daughter Jagdei died on the spot, police said.
The injured include driver of the car Kishori Lal (32), his wife Basanti (29), son Pawan Kumar (6) and his sister Baldei (35), he said.
The injured were admitted to Dalhousie hospital where their condition is stated to be critical, he said.
All the occupants are the members of a family, hailing from Jassourgarh in Churah subdivision of Chamba district, and were returning after paying obeisance to Vaishno Devi shirne in Jammu and Kashmir, the official said.
