Cardamom falls by 1% on profit-booking

Profit booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels affected prices

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices fell by 1.02% to Rs 1,063 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February month declined by Rs 11, or 1.02% to Rs 1,063 per kg in business turnover of 214 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in March contracts traded lower by Rs 4.20, or 0.35% to Rs 1,192.50 per kg in 82 lots.

Analysts said besides profit booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels, subdued demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.
