CBI registers case against REI Agro

CBI today registered a case against REI Agro Limited, which has its corporate office in Delhi, on the basis of a complaint filed by a consortium of bankers.

CBI spokesperson said the case had been registered against the private company and its directors.

The company has its registered office in Kolkata.

The banking consortium led by UCO Bank had alleged that the company had defrauded the banks to the extent of Rs 3,815 crore since 2013 through conspiracy, cheating and forgery, the spokesperson said.

Searches were conducted today at the four premises of the company and its directors in Kolkata. Four such premises in Delhi and three rice processing units of the company at Rewari (Haryana) which led to recovery of a number of documents.
 

Further investigation is continuing, CBI said.
