The Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu today said it would oppose the state government's decision of not charging entry tax from e-commerce companies for sub-Rs 5,000 purchases.

"An urgent meeting was convened at Chamber House today wherein representatives from different trades were present regarding the relaxations given to the e-commerce and online shopping sector by not imposing entry tax on purchases less than Rs 5,000," CCI Jammu said in a statement.

The meeting unanimously decided to force the government to impose entry tax on online shopping.

"We have already made a representation before the Commissioner Commercial Taxes so that the trading community gets a fair chance of being competitive in rates which is a fundamental right", he said.
