Chana futures gain 1.49 pc on tight supply

Amid tight supplies at spot market, chana prices moved up Rs 52 or by 1.49 per cent to Rs 3,537 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in January month rose by Rs 52, or 1.49 per cent to Rs 3,537 per quintal with an open interest of 27,660 lots.

The commodity for delivery in February moved up by Rs 25, or 0.70 per cent to Rs 3,577 per quintal in 96,360 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in chana futures to lower supplies from producing belts at spot market and pick up in demand.
