Chana prices moved up by 1.02 per cent to Rs 4,475 per quintal in futures trade Tuesday as speculators built up fresh positions, driven by uptick in demand from dal mills at spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in November was trading higher by Rs 45, of 1.02 per cent to Rs 4,475 per quintal with an open interest of 50 lots.

Likewise, the commodity to be delivered in December gained Rs 44, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 4,518 per quintal in 33,650 lots.

Marketmen said the rise in chana prices at futures market was mostly attributed to fresh positions created by traders after pick up in demand from dal mills at spot markets.
