Chennai leg of Mercedes Trophy golf tomorrow

The leg of 2018 tournament to be held tomorrow at TNGF Cosmo course here wil see 112 city golfers vie for the only qualification spot available for the national finals.

The one-day tournament will feature Indian Subramaniam Badrinath, who is testing his skills, a press release said.

The first seven qualification legs have so far been held in Pune, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and saw 24 spots being booked for the National Finals and post the event, 20 more spots will be up for grabs in the remaining qualification legs.

The national finals will be held in from April 4 to 6 at the Resort.

Three winners from the national finals will compete against those from tournaments played in 60 countries all over the world in the 29th edition of the World Final in Stuttgart, Germany, in October.

The format of play will be Double Peoria, a unique format of adjusting handicaps of players, which levels the playing field enabling golfers to have a greater chance of qualifying for the National Finals.
