Chinese man kills seven family members, himself

A Chinese man murdered seven members of his family, including his wife and children, over a family dispute before committing suicide, official said today.

The incident took place yesterday in Xiaonangou village in Hebei province, three days ahead of the Chinese New Year, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Police believe that the man named Wu Shouguo battered to death his wife and her parents, two children and two distant relatives with a blunt object before consuming poison.

A spokesman with Chengde's public security bureau said today that police officers found the bodies at Wu's home along with a suicide note left by him.
 

Police are further investigating the case.
