A coalition government was likely to be formed at the Center after the Lok Sabha polls, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) President S Gopalkrishnan said today.
"Irrespective of the political party that comes to power, stability for at least a five-year term would help in economic development along with job creation. Stability is important. It does not matter which government comes. Most people believe it will be a coalition. We have accepted that the next government will be a coalition," Gopalakrishnan, told reporters on the sidelines of a program here.
He said that in the last 20 years most governments at the Centre were coalitions and in 10 states there were six multi-party coalitions.
"So, if we get stability, irrespective of which coalition that comes in they will have to act and we will see higher growth," he said.
According to Gopalakrishnan, corruption has remained a major issue and the industry was looking forward to a period where corruption declined and good governance returned.
"Corruption has been a major issue and we are all looking forward to a period where corruption comes down and good governance comes back," he added.
