Actor Colin Donnell is set to star in "Almost Famous" musical.
The "Arrow" star will essay the role of Russell Hammond, the guitarist played by Billy Crudup in the movie, reported Entertainment Weekly.
The musical also features Casey Likes (William Miller), Solea Pfeiffer (Penny Lane), Drew Gehling as Jeff Bebe, Anika Larsen as William's mother Elaine and Robert Colletti as legendary rock critic Lester Bangs.
"Almost Famous", a semi-autobiographical drama by Cameron Crowe, released in 2000. It was based on Crowe's teenage experiences as a writer for Rolling Stone and followed William as he tours the country with the fictional rock band Stillwater in 1973.
While there were series of classic rock songs in the movie, the musical will feature original numbers.
Jeremy Herrin is directing the musical, which will run from September 13 to October 20 at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre.
