While assessing the progress of different various welfare schemes of the government, Commissioner Agra Division asked the Chief Medical officer Mathura to explain for unsatisfactory progress made in 'Janani Suraksha Yojna'.

"Non-payment of post pregnancy dues to women who delivered babies in the hospital and at other government delivery centres, non payment of incentive Ashas workers, is an attempt to malign the prestige of the government and ensure the failure of the scheme," Commissioner Agra Division Pradeep Bhatnagar said while seeking the explanation of CMO Vivek Mishra.

As per government rules, women delivering baby in district hospital are paid Rs one thousand, however in case of delivery in sub centres, additional primary health centres, PHCs or CHCs the payment admissible is Rs 1400.

The commissioner also warned the officers of other departments to take the government schemes seriously, failing to which action would be taken against them.
