Paul Gore, the director of pop star Katy Perry's music video "Rise", has denied the allegation that its idea has been stolen from singer Olivia Somerlyn's "Parachute".

Singer Nick Jonas' father, who is Somerlyn's manager, was the first to point out the similarity between Perry's clip for "Rise" and Somerlyn's "Parachute" video.

The two singers are seen with pink parachutes in some scenes of the two music videos.

Interestingly, Gore has got backing from none other than "Parachute" director Ryan Pallotta, who has said the similarity in the two videos is just "coincidence", reported Aceshowbiz.

Responding to the accusation, a representative for Gore has released a statement which read, "The filmmakers created a video for Katy Perry having never before seen the other video. Any similarity is pure coincidence."

Pallota saids, "Paul Gore is a revered director and I'm sure he wouldn't knowingly copy anything."

Regarding the similarity in both videos, Pallotta commented, "It's just a parachute - there are lots of them in prop houses and I would chalk this up to coincidence.
