Opposition Congress MLAs in Haryana today held a protest outside the State Assembly against Manohar Lal Khattar government, a day after they were suspended for five sittings for interrupting Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki during his address to the House.
As the Assembly session began in the morning on the second day of its ongoing budget session, the Congress MLAs led by their CLP leader Kiran Choudhry gathered on the road outside the Assembly.
With black cloth tied around their mouth as a sign of protest, the party MLAs barring former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Randeep Singh Surjewala, who were not present, raised slogans against the Khattar government.

Besides Kiran Choudhry, among the Congress MLAs present were former Speaker Kuldeep Sharma, Raghubir Singh Kadian, Karan Singh Dalal, Anand Singh Dangi, Geeta Bhukkal and Shakuntala Khatak.
As they were protesting close to the entrance of the Assembly building, the police asked the legislators to move away.
However, Kadian and some other legislators engaged in heated arguments with the police.
The protesting MLAs were later put on a bus and taken to the police station where they were briefly detained.
"We were detained for about an hour at Sector 3 police station. We were only using our democratic right to protest the undemocratic action of the BJP government of suspending us," Dalal said.
