The Gujarat High Court today issued a contempt of court notice to the state's Chief Secretary for not taking decision on a teacher's appointment as per the earlier order of the court.
The division bench of Justices Jayant Patel and R H Shukla issued notices to Chief Secretary G R Aloria and Commissioner of Schools Mukesh Kumar for not complying with the court's June 10 order.
The court had directed the authorities to decide on appointment of Dipesh Sheth, the petitioner, within a fortnight.

Sheth was selected for the post of higher-secondary school teacher in Junagadh district in May last year but he was not appointed on the ground that he had only completed his MA while the post required an M-Ed (Masters in Education) degree.
He approached the court and on June 10 Justice J B Pardiwala directed the authorities to clarify whether both the degrees are equivalent and take a decision in Sheth's case within a fortnight.
But no decision was taken, so he moved the court afresh.
The next hearing is on August 17.
