Copper edges up on global cues, spot demand

Copper prices rose by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on firm global trend amid pick-up in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market.

However, other base metals held steady on scattered demand from consuming industries in thin trade.

Traders besides firm trend overseas, uptick in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market helped copper prices to trade higher.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months rose 0.3 per cent to USD 4,689.50 per tonne on the Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap edged up by Rs 2 to Rs 362 per kg.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 102-108, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 820-825, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 362, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 87, lead imported Rs 93, aluminium ingots Rs 158, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 154, aluminium wire scrap Rs 154 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 152.
