Copper prices advanced by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today in line with a firm trend overseas.
In addition, rising demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market fuelled the uptrend.
Meanwhile, China imported 442,000 tonnes of unwrought copper in April, according to customs data released this week, the highest monthly total so far in 2018.
Globally, copper for delivery in three-months climbed 0.5 per cent to USD 6,844.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper mixed scrap traded higher by Rs 2 to Rs 442 per kg.

Zinc ingot Rs 136-142, nickel plate (4x4) Rs 859-864, gun metal scrap Rs 227, bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 442, chadri deshi Rs 295.
Lead ingot Rs 137, lead imported Rs 144, aluminium ingots Rs 166, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 162, aluminium wire scrap Rs 162 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 160.
