Press Trust of India New Delhi

Copper futures were trading a shade higher at Rs 420.80 per kg today as speculators raised bets amid firming trend at the domestic spot markets.

In futures trade, copper for delivery in August was trading higher by 15 paise, or 0.04 per cent, at Rs 420.80 per kg in a business turnover of 964 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange.

Market analysts said a better trend in base metals at the domestic spot markets on pick-up in demand from consuming industries and a firming trend in base metals in Asian trade, influenced copper futures here as speculators expanded positions.
